Travel Vaccines

passport

There’s no point spending hours choosing your swimwear, beach bag and flip-flops if you barely think about the bugs and other health risks that could ruin your holiday.

Almost one in four UK holidaymakers don't get any vaccinations despite travelling to areas that have life-threatening infectious disease.

Find out which travel jabs you need for your destination.

It’s not worth skipping travel vaccinations. Infectious diseases can make you very sick, spoil your holiday and even kill or cripple you.

Vaccinations protect you against many travel-related infections, such as yellow fever, typhoid and hepatitis A. Use the information on these pages to learn about travel vaccines, which ones you need for your destination, and when and where to get them.

Travel Vaccination Service

From the 1st October 2019 the surgery will no longer be proving a travel asessment service. We will be offering patients the free immunisations under the GP Contract which include Hep A, Typhopid and Dipheria/Tetanus/Polio.

Those intending to travel are advised to visit www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk to check which vaccines you require. If you require one of the vaccines mentioned above please book an appointment with at the surgery. When booking the appointment please let the receptionist know which vaccine you need as to ensure we have sufficent supplies. Please bring a printout of the website recommendations with you to your appointment. The nurse will not have time to do a travel assessment and may not adminster a vaccine without prior proff of requirement.

Those requiring a full travel service may attend a private travel clinic. We recommend JABS Travel Clinic based at Chaldon Road Surgery in Caterham. Please call 01883 212010 or visit www.jabstravelclinic.co.uk for more information. They can also provide NHS vaccines for a fee if this is more convenient.  Please note private travel clinics will charge you for all vaccines and a consultation fee.
