Hypertension is the biggest risk factor for CVD and is one of the top five risk factors for all premature death and disability in England. An estimated 5.5 million people have undiagnosed hypertension across the country. Early detection of hypertension is vital and there is evidence that community pharmacy has a key role in detection and subsequent treatment of hypertension and CVD, improving outcomes
Pharmacies are able to help patients.
If you suffer from high blood pressure. or aged over 40 years of age you can see your local pharmacist for blood pressure readings and help with promoting healthy behaviours for patients.
To access this service you can either book an appointment for a BP check with one of our nurses or Healthcare Assistants or present to your local pharmacy.
